Looking back at 2023 and into 2024 , it’s always nice to look back and see what was accomplished and what’s coming up next year.
2023 was an off year. In January, I broke my leg at the top of a mountain and had to be airlifted down. I spent 5 months on the couch recovering and all of my workouts this year have been physical therapy and regaining my strength. I didn’t have much for energy the first half of the year at all. Injuries are HARD when you’re getting older. Electric Monarch Drone Training & Education still moved forward. It was a lesson for me that I should have products & services that I can still offer to my amazing clients even when I am stuck on the couch.
In 2023 we:
- Provided curriculum for a few drone organizations to develop their own FAA Part 107 courses, specifically around the airspace portion. (I was supposed to go to CA to record the course for one client but couldn’t bend my knee to sit on the airplane or drive! I wrote the lessons, they did the recording.)
- Developed educational videos for an after-school program.
- Published a new book “Build, Code, Fly, Certify: Drones in STEM Education.” https://www.educatorswhodrone.com/resources/
- Presented at EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, WI
- Moved all of our content for both Electric Monarch & Educators Who Drone to a different and scalable learning platform to support our growth.
- Crossed over the 2k subs milestone on Youtube (even though I hadn’t made a new video in MONTHS due to my injury.) https://www.youtube.com/@flyelectricmonarch/
- Relaunched and rebranded our podcast as “DRONE MBA” focusing on the business of drones and starting your career. https://www.youtube.com/@flyelectricmonarch/podcasts
- Revised the Electric Monarch FAA Part 107 on-demand course (an annual occurrence!) https://www.flyelectricmonarch.com/part107/
- Launched the Business Strategies for Drone Pilots online community https://www.facebook.com/groups/dronemba
- Soft-launched the Dronepreneur Academy to help people start, grow, and scale their drone business, which includes 2 live sessions each month. https://www.flyelectricmonarch.com/dronepreneuracademy/
- Started researching how I can get more involved in local search and rescue missions.
In 2024 we will:
- Create a discount program for K-12 (primary/secondary) teachers and police, fire, and rescue.
- Create our affiliate/reward program for those who’d like to recommend us to their friends/colleagues.
- Launch a new program for K-12 teachers
- Launch new programs monthly for the Dronepreneur Academy on drone business and careers
- Launch a LIVE weekend/evening Part 107 course in Phoenix.
- Attend and present at more conferences
- Launch our merchandise shop
- Figure out how I can help with local search and rescue missions.
- And a LOT more planned that I can’t discuss just yet!
